As you know, the MAD Festival is an event during which artists, designers, and dancers perform and showcase their talents to thousands of people. But the festival is also known for its pop-up zone, which grows and improves each year. This year, this area is back under the name “Pop-Up MAD Shoppe” and will be filled with the best brands from here and abroad.
So, we decided to present you 3 swimwear brands to discover at the festival from August 24th to 27th. As a bonus, we’ll reveal a swimwear trend for each brand, so you can be at the top all summer long!
Founded by Elisabeth Rioux at the age of 18, Hoaka is now a globally recognized brand known for its affordable prices, excellent customer service, and trendy designs. The company initially started by offering a diverse range of swimwear and later expanded its offerings to include high-quality underwear and loungewear. With the help of several partners, Hoaka has also made significant contributions to a greener planet by planting over 1 million trees worldwide and recycling approximately 247,000 plastic bottles to manufacture swimwear.
Their product range includes neoprene swimsuits perfect for sports and leisure, eco-friendly swimwear made from recycled plastic bottles, bamboo fabric underwear, and organic cotton clothing. What makes them different: comfort and quality. Hoaka items have always been exclusively available online, and the brand offers international shipping, which has contributed to its popularity around the globe.
Recently, the brand has collaborated with the Montreal-based company Lachapelle Atelier to create a micro-collection of plus-size swimwear. The two models are available in sizes ranging from XS to 5XL and will likely be offered at their pop-up shop at the MAD festival! The Hoaka team will also bring along some options from their latest swimwear collection (which will be unveiled shortly), the new sportswear collection, as well as the new lingerie line.
See you there!
Trend: The Micro-Kini
As seen on Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, and even Dua Lipa, the micro-kini is officially a trend among Instagram’s it-girls. Perfect for tanning, this swimsuit style is available at our favorite local brands, including Hoaka. Whether in patterns, solid colors, or with a touch of shimmer, the micro-kini is an essential piece for the summer of 2023!
Founded 4 years ago, Mennillo Design is an online swimwear and accessories company renowned for its wide selection of styles. The company’s initial goal was to address the issues that women may encounter when purchasing swimwear.
Mennillo stands out for the diversity of its swimwear tops and bottoms: adjustable tops, removable cups, various types of bottoms and back coverage, as well as unique and high-quality fabrics, among others. The company aims to provide a vast array of choices so that women can feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in a Mennillo swimsuit. Several models are also locally manufactured, and the Spring/Summer 2023 collection of cover-ups will be 100% made in Montreal.
In the MAD Festival’s pop-up zone, Mennillo will offer a diverse range of products, including swimwear for women, men, and babies, cover-ups, dresses, accessories, and sportswear. And here’s an exclusive piece of information for you: their space will be beach-themed, so make sure not to miss out on it!
If you prefer lounging in the shade, the cutout swimsuit is perfect for you. This style isn’t designed for achieving perfect tan lines but rather for embracing an impeccable sense of style. We’ve found the perfect cutout swimsuit at Mennillo Design, just add some golden jewelry, and you’re all set!
