Calamine

27 August 2023 @ 7: 00 PM - 8: 00 PM

(music)

Calamine’s concert is a queer manifesto, a celebration of irreverence towards hetero-patriarchy and an eco-anxious complaint, balancing betweem enthousiam and cynicism. The « lesbienne woke sur l’autotune » celebrates all labels while overthrowing them happily. Against uninhibited populisms and pathetic conservatisms, she is not affraid of claiming hysteria and alienation to better embrace the emergency of the struggles we have to face. A woke army is rising! Calamine is surrounded on statge by her beatmaker Kètche Magané (guitars and bass), Valérie Lachance-Guillemette (saxophones and singing) and Arthur Evenard (keys).

Calamine is a Montreal based queer, feminist and anti-capitalist rapper. In 2021, Calamine received the Felix-Leclerc award, was proclaimed Radio-Canada Revelation and her first album « Boulette Proof » won « Hip-hop album » at GAMIQ. She performed in many festivals such as Baie-St-Paul’s Festif!, Rouyn-Noranda’s FME, Montreal’s Francos and few cities in France. She was seen also on TV shows (Belle&Bum, Le Coeur sur le flow, La Fin des Faibles) and her featuring with other artists all made their way to charts in campus radios. She produces her albums alongside beatmaker Kèthe Magané. They also produced with the rapper Sam Faye two albums by the name of Petite Papa in 2020 and 2021.
