5 TRENDY PATTERNS FOR SPRING

As winter comes to an end, the spring collections hit the stores and bring some fresh air into our wardrobes. This new season offers a wide variety of choices in terms of colors, cuts, styles and prints to adopt, or to watch. In order to guide you, MAD Collectif spotted the trendy patterns on the spring/summer 2023 fashion shows !

WATERCOLOR EFFECT

Evolution of the Tie Dye trend that made a comeback a few seasons ago, the watercolor print is softer, but still very colorful. With an increase of 41%* in the summer collections of 2023, this trend works in every color, but often in warm tones reminiscent of summer sunsets.

BLACK & WHITE GRAPHICS

This classic and elegant combination of black & white is back this spring in graphic and linear prints. This modern and timeless pattern is found on every piece from lightweight knit sets to ultra-long skirts and oversized suits.

NATURAL LANDSCAPES

Similar to the Toile de Jouy pattern, this trend also comes from the rise of the cottagecore aesthetic. Set on various pieces of clothing, the print of spring, summer or even imaginary landscapes is up to 7%*. While some designers give it a modern touch, others are inspired by grandmacore, recreating the pattern of the curtains and cushions found in our grandmothers’ homes!

ABSTRACT FLORAL

Although the presence of flowers on the catwalks is down (by 13%*), they are still dominant in the spring/summer 2023 collections. On the other hand, we observe an evolution towards abstract flowers with a “hand-painted” effect, which slightly joins the trend of watercolor effect. A winning combo!

ANIMAL

Always here in small quantities in the collections, the animal print has been back on the front of the stage for a few seasons. While the leopard pattern, inspired by the nightlife trend, was already very popular, other jungle (or farm) animals are also beginning to take their place. Crocodile, snake or cow: the appearance of these animals inspires creators more than you think!

 HEARTS

A little bonus for the road: the heart pattern ! Even if it is up by 275% in the spring/summer 2023 collections, it is a trend that is still very little visible, but which has a lot of potential. This print comes mainly from the trend of “childish” and “Pinterest” looks that we have seen in recent seasons. Watch closely or adopt now!
